Pathotype Distribution of Xanthomonas campestris pv . vesicatoria on Pepper (Capsicum annuum) in Korea and Cross - Protection between the Pathotypes

Abstract

|
A survey was conducted to obtain the information on the pathotype distribution of Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria, infecting the pepper (Capsicum annuum) plants. A total of 127 isolates of bacterial spot pathogen was collected from 73 locations throughout Korea and their pathotypes were identified by inoculating on a differential host. Races 1 and 3 of X. campestris pv. vesicatoria were identified in similar frequency, but no Race 2 was found. From synchronous and sequential inoculations of Race 1 and Race 3, no cross-protection was found between the two pathotypes.
